DIY Wedding & Event Flowers


We offer a few different blooms by the bucket options for DIY weddings and event florals. There are hundreds of flower farms in Michigan, all growing specialty cut flowers. MFB provides anyone needing a variety of fresh flowers with access to the highest quality, sustainably grown options for your wedding or event. A buyer’s pass is not required for this one-time purchase.

Our DIY bucket of bloom packages are affordable, and you won’t have to worry about shipping delays or damaged arrivals from imported floral websites. Plus, you’ll be supporting Michigan farmers – which is a guarantee to have the freshest cut-flowers for you celebration!

We offer seasonally grown flowers and foliage during Michigan’s growing season, which is generally from Mid-April through early October. Check out our seasonal availability to see what we have in season each month. You can also rent MFB to DIY your floral designs at for any of your bucket of bloom orders!


Michigan Flower Barn was founded by the owners of Brown Family Farmstead – a first generation flower farm in Owosso, Michigan. Our goal is to encourage a strong local flower economy in Mid-Michigan and beyond, making locally-grown florals easily accessible to anyone using blooms for their event! We’re excited to provide you with fresh cut-flowers from our flower farming community!

MFB is centrally located in Owosso (Bennington Township). We’re just 30 minutes from Downtown Flint, Lansing and 1 hour from Grand Rapids.


Using our wholesale, DIY fresh-cut flowers is a great option for anyone with a smaller floral budget who’s comfortable arranging their wedding or event florals. These are all seasonally grown flowers that thrive in Michigan so they do bloom at different times of the year from April – Mid-October. Flower selection is dependent on seasonal availability, so we just want to give you a friendly reminder: be flexible when working with ~nature~!

Speaking from experience tip: If you’re the one getting married, you’ll likely be *at capacity* the week of your wedding, with all the last minute to-do’s, so we highly recommend having an experienced and/or creative person (or two) that you trust for most of the work required for DIY blooms! Flower arranging takes time – make sure you’ve set aside a full day to get your arrangements together and made before your event.

Make sure you can provide proper care and storage – these are perishable items! All blooms must be transported and stored in a cool place, in fresh water, out of direct sunlight until they’re used.

Book your order sooner than later (friendly shouting)! We have a limited number of DIY packages available each month and we start booking at the beginning of each year.

Our design team fills every bucket order with a variety of flowers and foliage that work beautifully together, to create a cohesive look whether you want mixed colors or a specific palette!


Each bucket includes a hand selected mix of 70 stems: 1/3 focal, 1/3 filler and 1/3 foliage. A single bucket provides enough stems to make up to 6 small centerpieces (think a 1 quart ball jar size or 3-4 inch diameter vase) OR 1 large bridal bouquet and 2 small bridesmaid bouquets. Colors and varieties vary by month, these are mixed palette stems curated by our designers.

All greenery bucket option for this price, too.


Each bucket includes a hand selected mix of 70 stems, in your selected color palette: 1/3 focal, 1/3 filler and 1/3 foliage. Specific varieties vary by month, please provide up to 3-4 colors for your palette.


Add specialty cut blooms to any order. Our specialty-cut flowers include: hydrangea, peony, dahlia, lisianthus, deluxe tulip, ranunculus, garden rose, and anemone. These are luxury blooms sold in growers bunches. Each bunch is $30, stem count depends on variety and bloom size. Specific varieties and vary by month, please refer to our seasonal guide for accurate availability.

$400 + Bucket Order

Make a day of DIY flower fun – Rent our flower barn to design and store your florals! This package includes access to our flower barn for 4 hours of arranging. Bring your friends + fam and get creative! We’ll provide each of you with all of the designer tools you’ll need: floral snippers, flower tape, wire AND give you our basic floral arranging recipes, making your floral design experience much more enjoyable!

Let us know how many buckets of blooms you’ll need, and all you need to do is show up with the crew + BYOD&S (drinks & snacks)! One of our lead designers will be on site for general guidance and tips along the way, but the design part is up to you! When you’re done arranging, take your pieces with you or we’ll then store your arranged florals in our cooler until they’re ready for pickup, the day-of your wedding or event.

DIY bucket orders must be placed a minimum of 2 weeks before your event date. We cannot accommodate anything sooner than that. We do not offer delivery for DIY buckets.

One bucket includes about 70 stems, a mix of focal flowers, accent or texture and greenery. Please note we have limited availability selections in early Spring (April-May).

Would you like to add on the DIY @ the Michigan Flower Barn rental?
DIY arranging at the flower farm: rent the barn and we’ll provide your crew with floral snippers, tape, and basic floral arranging recipes for your pieces. The design part is up to you! A floral designer will be on-site to guide you with tips and tricks. MFB will store your arranged florals in our cooler until they’re ready for pickup the day-of your wedding/event. This is for 4 hours of designing at MFB for $400.

What Are Slow-Grown Flowers?

Flowers grown with sustainable farming practices, harvested in their natural season of bloom, sourced as close to you as possible – and designed by florists who are using chemical-free techniques. As farmer-florists, we make sure all of the flowers and foliage are harvested and sold immediately for use. Michigan ‘slow-flowers’ are grown in your state, eliminating the massive carbon footprint that comes with importing flowers.
