The Farmer's Notes
5 stems; approximately 16-20" stems; approximately 4 - 7 inch flower when fully open, depending on size of bulb
Peonies are harvested in marshmallow stage and dry stored until the Tuesday before market. Marshmallow stage is soft, but not exploding. It will hold in your cooler in water in a mostly closed shape, or you will need to leave it out for the peonies to open. Semi-doubles do open faster than double or bomb peonies.
Buckeye Belle is a semi-double very bold, deep red peony with no scent. When opened fully, her yellow stamens are revealed.
About Peony
Big, blowsy, and unapologetically romantic, the peony is the flower Michigan brides and gardeners wait all year for. Grown by our farmer collective and cut at the soft-bud stage, ours open into lush globes right on your table.
