About Daisies
The Daisy is the friendliest face in the summer garden: crisp white petals radiating from a sunny gold center on a sturdy, upright stem. Most of what we cut is the Shasta daisy, the big, garden-hardy perennial that reads instantly as a daisy, along with a handful of painted and African types that push the palette into buttery yellows, warm corals, and soft rose. Whatever the shade, the shape is universal and endlessly cheerful.
The classic cut daisy is the Shasta, Leucanthemum superbum, a hybrid perennial bred for large, clean blooms rather than a Michigan wildflower, so our growers raise named garden strains for the best stems. They are tough, cold-hardy plants that thrive in our climate, coming back a little larger each year and flowering right through the warm months.
Daisies are a beloved everyday flower for good reason: they are long-lasting, they mix with almost anything, and they carry a bouquet on their own when you just want something bright on the kitchen table. For our farmers they are one of the most dependable summer cuts in the field.

Forms & Varieties
Cut daisies come from a few different plants that all share that classic petals-and-eye look, each with its own season and palette.
Shasta daisy
The big, garden-hardy white perennial with a gold center, the backbone of our daisy harvest.
Painted daisy
Cool-season blooms in rose, pink, and red tones for a softer, more romantic take on the daisy shape.
African daisy
Sun-loving osteospermum in warm corals and purples, bringing extra color to summer mixes.
Feverfew and button types
Small, clustered daisy relatives that work beautifully as an airy filler among larger blooms.
Care & Vase Life
- Expect 7 to 12 days in the vase, one of the longer-lasting summer cuts.
- Recut stems at an angle and place in clean, fresh water as soon as you get them home.
- Strip lower leaves below the waterline, since daisy foliage breaks down quickly and clouds the water.
- Change the water every couple of days to keep the stems drinking and the blooms crisp.
- Keep arrangements out of direct sun and away from ripening fruit for the longest life.
When We Have Daisies
Daisies flower from June right through September in Michigan, hitting full stride in the heat of mid to late summer. The Shasta types are perennials, so the patch returns and expands each year, while cool-season painted daisies come earlier. Every stem is grown by our member farmers.
Availability shifts week to week with the Michigan season, so colors and varieties vary. Reserve ahead for events, and check the shop for what our farmers have cut this week.

What kind of daisies do you grow?
Mostly Shasta daisies, the large white garden perennial, along with painted daisies in rose and pink and warm-toned African daisies. Together they give us a long season and a wider palette than white alone.
How long do cut daisies last?
Daisies are among the longest-lasting summer flowers, often holding 7 to 12 days in a clean vase with fresh water and the lower leaves stripped off.
Are daisies good for a DIY bucket?
Yes. Daisies are a perfect DIY-bucket flower: cheerful, sturdy, and endlessly mixable. You can add them to a bucket any time they are in season through the summer.
Do daisies come back every year?
The Shasta daisies we grow are hardy perennials that return and spread each season, which is part of why they are such a reliable summer cut for us.
